David Jones was the voice teacher of my first primary voice teacher Stan Dunn from 2012-2019. I have been reading David's articles on voice technique for 10 years, as well as his book, A Modern Guide to Old World Singing, for insight on technique as my voice continues to develop.

"Amour ranime mon courage" is one of the arias in my audition package and Nadine Sierra is my favorite interpretation. After a 2 minute standing ovation, Sierra performed this challenging and demanding Act IV aria for a second time. This recording proves the importance of good vocal technique and stamina while performing a full role. Nadine performs with such intense dramatic intent, impeccable technique and grace. She is an opera singer in today's world that I greatly admire.

Renée Fleming is one of my favorite opera singers of all time. In this video, she shares breathing exercises to help opera singers, Broadway performers and actors regain their breath after periods of illness. Good breath support is key to maintaining a good vocal technique and stamina.

My musical journey started with my musical theatre background. I learned so much about acting, stagecraft and vocal stamina from some of my favorite musical theatre performers. One of my favorites, Kelli O'Hara has performed multiple leading lady roles on Broadway as well as roles at the Metropolitan Opera. My vocal technique has allowed me to cross-over between opera, operetta and musical theatre in my career. I greatly admire singers with a healthy technique that is flexible amongst multiple genres. O'Hara recently premiered in Kevin Puts's The Hours in the role of Laura alongside Renée Fleming and Joyce DiDonato at the Metropolitan Opera.
